Interisland planning
Plan records, travel, surgery timing, and follow-up before you fly.
Patients from Kona, Hilo, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, and other Hawaii communities often need help coordinating imaging, travel, family support, surgery logistics, and recovery timing. The goal is to make the medical plan clear before travel becomes the hard part.

How to prepare
Make the next call easier.
01
Send the story ahead
Recent imaging, reports, prior operative notes, medication lists, and a symptom timeline help the visit focus on decisions instead of missing information.
02
Plan the support
Travel patients should think about rides, lodging, stairs, meals, wound checks, medication pickup, and who can help during the early recovery window.
03
Confirm follow-up
Ask what follow-up must happen in person, what may be coordinated locally, and when it is safe to travel after treatment or surgery.
Before you call
A little preparation prevents a lot of back-and-forth.
Use this checklist before calling or scheduling so the office can route you toward the right visit, records request, or next step.
Can I do everything in one visit?
Sometimes the first visit can answer the main question, but surgery, injections, imaging, or revision workups may require additional planning.
Should I fly immediately after surgery?
Travel timing depends on the procedure, swelling, wound healing, mobility, blood clot risk, and Dr. Morton's instructions.
Can Big Island patients be seen locally?
Hilo and Kona access can help with evaluation and planning, while some surgery and complex care may still require separate coordination.
