Personalized Alignment In Knee Replacement Surgery
Patients often ask why one knee replacement feels more natural than another. Part of the answer is alignment and balance. Personalized alignment means the plan should respect your anatomy, ligament tension, deformity, bone shape, and the way your knee needs to function.

Patient education
Useful guidance before the visit, clearer decisions during the visit.
01
What personalized alignment means
Traditional knee replacement often uses standard alignment targets. Personalized alignment starts with the patient's native anatomy and asks how implant position, soft-tissue balance, and knee mechanics can be planned safely for that person.
02
Where robotics fits
Robotic-assisted systems can help with planning, measuring, bone preparation, and executing a patient-specific plan. The robot is a tool. Dr. Morton still makes the clinical decisions.
03
What patients should ask
Ask how your X-rays, deformity, ligaments, stiffness, prior surgery, and activity goals affect alignment choices. A clear answer is more useful than a generic promise.
04
How I use this guide in a real visit
I do not expect patients to memorize every detail. The useful part is noticing what sounds like your situation, then bringing that question into the office so we can apply it to your X-rays, exam, and goals.
05
What changes the recommendation
Knee recommendations change when weight-bearing X-rays show advanced arthritis, when swelling and stiffness are taking over, when nonsurgical care is no longer holding, or when medical risk and home support make waiting safer.
Related patient trust
Knee patients want to know if it is time.
Most people are not looking for a sales pitch. They want to know whether injections, therapy, partial knee, total knee, or robotic planning makes sense for their knee.
