Operative reports, implant labels, old X-rays, and a timeline of symptoms help us see whether the problem is new, slowly progressive, or related to the original surgery.

Revision is a diagnosis-driven decision
Revision hip surgery can help the right problem, but it is more complex than the first surgery. We should be clear about the reason before recommending it.

Does hip replacement pain always mean I need revision?
No. The first goal is to find the cause. Some painful hips do not improve with another operation because the pain is coming from somewhere else.
What if I do not have my old records?
Call anyway. We can often start with new imaging and request records, but old operative notes and implant information are very helpful.
Can I get a second opinion before another surgery?
Yes. Painful implants are one of the best reasons to get a careful second opinion.
