What we sort out

The first job is to make the problem clearer.

01

Listen for instability

A knee that gives way, swells after activity, locks, catches, or never feels trustworthy needs a different conversation than simple soreness.

02

Protect the future knee

ACL, meniscus, cartilage, and alignment problems can affect long-term joint health. The plan should protect the knee you will live with years from now.

03

Build a return plan

Return to sport, work, hiking, lifting, or family life should be staged around healing, strength, balance, swelling, and confidence.

Bring if you have it

Bring MRI reports and injury notes if you have them
Write down the date of injury and what happened
List sports, work demands, and activity goals
Tell us about swelling, locking, or giving-way episodes

Why I ask for the story

Better records usually lead to a better first conversation.

Bring the history, images, and questions you already have. That helps us spend the visit on the part that matters: what is causing the problem, what choices are reasonable, and what timing fits your health, work, family, and travel needs.

Questions

Straight answers before you call.

Does every ACL tear need surgery?

No. It depends on instability, age, activity goals, associated injuries, and what you need the knee to do.

Can every meniscus tear be repaired?

No. Repair depends on tear pattern, tissue quality, blood supply, arthritis, and symptoms.

Where do PRP or BMAC fit?

They can be discussed for selected problems, but diagnosis comes first. They are not a shortcut around a mechanical problem.

Next step

You do not have to figure this out before you call.
